The Show Must Go On
You receive a strange death notice in the mail. It’s a small black and white picture showing a rustic farmhouse with a closed door. On the back, it’s written that it’s Champot farm, in the Haute-Loire, the last place where Guy Debord lived. He stated that all that once was directly lived has become mere representation.
And he who had directly lived, founder of Situationism, ended up in a mere representation, death, which, according to Epicurus, we will not experience, and, therefore, which Guy Debord did not directly live.
Whoever has lived must die.
Final situation: Guy Debord dies on November 30, 1994.
The Society of the Spectacle extends its deepest condolences.
